Tony Moly Backstage Eye Liner Review~

Kicking off our launch week here at Cheongmal Awesome, we all promised everyone that we will be doing reviews as well. For the first round of our beauty product reviews, we got Tony Moly’s popular Backstage eye liner in Black.

In Korea, girls love their gel eye liners. No, really. When I say love, I’m not even lying. Because every single female I’ve seen in Korea always has to have eye liner. They can forget about everything on their face when it comes to makeup, but they can never forget to put on eye liner. They are so good at putting it that in fact, I have come across some who actually put eye liner in the train. 정말 awesome skills, I tell you!

Gel liners nowadays are very popular compared to liquid and pencil liners because not only can they do the same application as both products, but they have great lasting power on your lids as well. I have oily lids and this is the only type of eye liner that never slides and moves around at all for hours.

Let’s start with the packaging of Tony Moly’s Backstage eyel liner. If you have used any type of gel or cream based eye liner, you need a brush to apply it. There is no way you can pull off putting this on your lids without using a brush. Now the ingenious packaging tactic they incorporated in this product is that they made life easier for you. They have included the brush in the packaging so that 1) you don’t have to buy a separate eye liner brush to use this product and 2) you can be sure that your brush won’t get ruined when you bring along the eye liner around in your makeup bag.

The product itself is quite creamy. Just like any creamy liner, it needs a few seconds to set before you can safely blink away without worrying that the product will smudge or rub off on your lids. The pigmentation is very great. It is actually a true black and applies quite opaque.

The brush included in the packaging is not bad at all. I would have opted for something much more smaller regarding brush tip size since I don’t like piling on the product on my eyes, but let’s face it. This product is made in Korea and like I said, they like to pile on their eyeliner. But in overall performance for something that is built in, it’s not so bad! We all know that anything that comes in the packaging when it comes to makeup is poorly made that we toss them out a lot. But this one I can actually live with.

Now onto application!

Dream High, In Which JYP Becomes Slightly Tolerable

Annyeong, Internet! It is our great pleasure to review Dream High, a recently concluded drama from South Korea! We’re all K-Drama fans here, and amidst the wonderful roster of dramas we could review, we thought Dream High might be a fun debut of our critiquing skills. ;)

One thing you should know about this drama is that the cast is made out of real idols— Suzy of Miss A, Taecyeon and Wooyoung of 2PM, IU, Eunjeung of T-Ara and lots of debuted performers in the supporting cast. There’s even a Kim Hyunjoong cameo in the very first episode!

Perhaps the only member of the lead cast that isn’t an idol is Kim Soohyun, and surprisingly, he fits right in! A lot of people have complained about the casting (some of us included) but in retrospect I think we can all agree that they had great chemistry. Also, after reviewing the series, we get the feeling that choosing a more ‘apt’ idol to replace one of the roles may not have worked in the long run after all.

Another surprise (I mean, Klarisse here, I had no idea of the cast when I first started watching, so by surprise I mean, WOAH WHAT?!) was the role of JYP. If you’re not aware, JYP or Park Jinyoung is the founder of JYP Entertainment, the company that houses the Wondergirls, 2PM, 2AM and formerly Miss A. So, basically, Dream High was totally a JYPE drama.

At first glance, it seemed like Dream High was trying to be a Korean Glee of some sort, but as a Gleek, it’s really miles different. Sure the actors have real talent, otherwise they wouldn’t be cast. They also sing cover songs of various Korean artists, which were wonderful! Case in point, the infamous Genie cover of Suzy, Taecyeon, Iu, and Soohyun. But the drama isn’t as performance-based as Glee. So there’s no need for purists to get all iffy about Dream High being a rip-off.

Plot Summary: The drama revolves around 6 main characters—all talented young people who audition to enter Kirin High School for the Arts. The school is famous for being a ‘idol training school’ and many students want to get in because of the the promise of being debuted in a fast-rising career.  The 6 characters—Go Hyemi (Suzy), Jin Gook (Taecyeon), Song Samdong (Kim Soohyun), Yoon Baekhee (Eunjung), Jason (Wooyoung) and Kim Pilsuk (IU) enter the school for different reasons and aspirations. Their relationships and adventures together make the series engaging and touching at best.

I can’t really give an in depth review without revealing some of the juicier details, so I guess if you are up for a little spoiling or if you’ve seen the series, then you can continue reading on! :)

WGM WooJung Couple – Introduction and Initial Review

As a parting gift to our beloved Bianca, who in a few hours will be flying to the land of fan girl dreams aka South Korea, I present to you all my very first post here in Cheongmal Awesome!  Let me take this time to express my utmost gratitude and happiness that I am now part of this cheongmal awesome group! See what I did there? Heehee.

Moving on, I’m sure all of you are familiar with the Korean reality series We Got Married (WGM).  It’s a show where two celebrities are paired as a wedded couple and we, the audience, are given a front row seat to witness their married life.  Although, there have been many couples that have been made, I personally have only watched some KhunToria (Nichkhun of 2PM and Victoria of f(x)) episodes (read: whenever 2PM or Chansung would guest kk~).  My attention was caught as news broke that Ham Eunjung would join the roster of couples.

Putting this on my timeline, I had just finished watching Dream High summer of this year (around May) so I was seriously wishing her husband would be Taecyeon because I totally shipped them in Dream High

…but then he tweeted his good luck to her WGM endeavour and that put out the fire.

Next on the list was Kim Soo Hyun.  Fellow cast member on Dream High as well and co-endorser of Spris, I was totally falling for them especially after seeing their campaign for Spris.

But lo and behold, it still wasn’t him.  So, who could be the future husband of Eunjung?

This guy they call Lee JangWoo:

A little background on the guy:  He’s an actor and starred in the drama Smile, Donghae (or Smile Again), playing an assistant general manager of a hotel.

He used to be in a band with No MinWoo and they were called 24/7 and this guy has some singing skillz!

SPOILERS AHEAD! Go on if you dare.
