Kicking off our launch week here at Cheongmal Awesome, we all promised everyone that we will be doing reviews as well. For the first round of our beauty product reviews, we got Tony Moly’s popular Backstage eye liner in Black.
In Korea, girls love their gel eye liners. No, really. When I say love, I’m not even lying. Because every single female I’ve seen in Korea always has to have eye liner. They can forget about everything on their face when it comes to makeup, but they can never forget to put on eye liner. They are so good at putting it that in fact, I have come across some who actually put eye liner in the train. 정말 awesome skills, I tell you!
Gel liners nowadays are very popular compared to liquid and pencil liners because not only can they do the same application as both products, but they have great lasting power on your lids as well. I have oily lids and this is the only type of eye liner that never slides and moves around at all for hours.

Let’s start with the packaging of Tony Moly’s Backstage eyel liner. If you have used any type of gel or cream based eye liner, you need a brush to apply it. There is no way you can pull off putting this on your lids without using a brush. Now the ingenious packaging tactic they incorporated in this product is that they made life easier for you. They have included the brush in the packaging so that 1) you don’t have to buy a separate eye liner brush to use this product and 2) you can be sure that your brush won’t get ruined when you bring along the eye liner around in your makeup bag.

The product itself is quite creamy. Just like any creamy liner, it needs a few seconds to set before you can safely blink away without worrying that the product will smudge or rub off on your lids. The pigmentation is very great. It is actually a true black and applies quite opaque.

The brush included in the packaging is not bad at all. I would have opted for something much more smaller regarding brush tip size since I don’t like piling on the product on my eyes, but let’s face it. This product is made in Korea and like I said, they like to pile on their eyeliner. But in overall performance for something that is built in, it’s not so bad! We all know that anything that comes in the packaging when it comes to makeup is poorly made that we toss them out a lot. But this one I can actually live with.
Now onto application!
