Sad as I am that I’m not able to witness in person the sexiness that is Seulong meet and greet 2AM, I’m so glad that my friends are over in Manila going crazy and kyaaaaa-ing their lungs out! I’d like to share a particular story which all of us can learn from.

How exactly do you propose to an idol? Although we are all allowed delusions of marriage to our favourite idol, a small part of our brain remains realistic. We do know that they won’t accept our proposal or take us seriously. However, it’s also perfectly rational to personally declare our undying love right in front of them - after all, it is human to want your feelings to be known. To fangirls, acknowledgement may come in the form of a laugh or a smile from their idol of choice - to the masochistic ones or those with affinity towards bad boys a deadpan stare (or scowl) would be enough to make their hearts burst.
With the aim of letting your presence known or being stored in the back of your favourite idol’s memory as a funny anecdote to be shared in some variety show, you might as well put an effort to your marriage proposal.
Step 1
Make sure you look good. The most obvious reason for this is of course, you want to look presentable. Another is that you might also want to mask any geeky traces you might exhibit. Another is that you wouldn’t want to scare the love of your life. However, another very good reason for this is that if people around you start thinking you’re a crazed over the top fangirl, they can always say “at least she was pretty and looked like a normal functioning member of society.”

Step 2
After the superficial, aesthetic preparation comes the mental preparation. The reason why I put this in number 2 is that putting on make-up or choosing what to wear while having jitters is not very good. You don’t want to look like you’re all dolled up for a stage play during your (possible) engagement day.
How do you psyche yourself up? Things to remember are (1) this might as well be a once in a lifetime chance to express your love in person, (2) if you don’t do this now you’ll regret it, (3) your idol is an idol because s/he wants to be loved by many people, (4) don’t care about the other people, they can only cry if your proposal gets accepted by some miracle.

Step 3
Most importantly, BE FIRM. So this is what happened when Bianca proposed to Changmin:
She walks up the stage, all smiles, and gets her CD signed until she gets to Changmin.
Moment of truth.
She says it firmly, with conviction, without any trace of aegyo.
The coordi nuna behind Changmin laughed and started tapping him to tell him that there’s a rather amusing girl infront of him. So Changmin looks up and what does Bianca do? Of course, she was firm about it and said it again.
The result must have been pure bliss: Changmin looking at her with a smile, and then he started to laugh. (And I’m positive he was happy about it because yes, they are idols because they want to be recognised.)
And so ends, How to propose to an Idol. Remember kids, if you decide to pledge your undying love or ask an idol’s hand in marriage, just go there and own it!
Yours,
AM
Klarisse: In case anyone is clueless about the man she so shamelessly proposed to, this is Changmin:
